Twenty years ago, thirty-six-year-old Gracie Atherton-Yoo was in the tabloid headlines because of her relationship with a boy from seventh grade. Gracie left her husband and married Joe despite the age difference. Years have passed, and Gracie and Joe are leading a quiet life until their turbulent past becomes the subject of a new film. As the person to portray Gracie in this new film, Elizabeth visits the couple to observe their lives. This surprise visit reveals that there is much that remains of the past.
Todd Haynes’ new film, which premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and received critical acclaim, features Julianne Moore as Gracie and Natalie Portman as Elizabeth.
